Ellie Landesman
claims she was the only child who never had a single picture
hung on the wall in her first 8 years of school. Consequently,
she never held a paintbrush in her hand until she was 69!
One day, Ellie said “I wish I could see like an artist
sees.” Within a week, an advertisement came in the mail
that said “Do you want to see like an artist sees?”
She took this as a sign to take art lessons. Her first teacher
was Jeanne Appel. Prior to painting, Ellie led a multifaceted
life amidst avant garde artists, writers, and theater people.
She traveled worldwide and between the ages 40 and 60 lived
in the country and established a yoga retreat center, teaching
and being involved in studies from the esoteric to the healing
arts. Gardening, flowers, and nature have always been a big
part of her life. Having this show excites her, because she
believes she can encourage people who thought they could never
paint that it is not only possible but also adds a lot of
fun and relaxation to life.
